Our Mission

Gear to Grant exists to make youth sports more accessible for every child, regardless of financial circumstances. Today, the rising cost of equipment, travel, and participation has turned sports into a pay to play system, where kids from higher income families are nearly twice as likely to participate. In many of the communities we serve, including low income, rural, and Native communities, poverty rates can be two to four times higher than the national average, creating even greater barriers to entry.

We collect high quality donated sports equipment, clean and repair it, and give it new life. The value of that gear is then converted into microgrants that help young athletes afford to play. This approach not only reduces financial barriers but also ensures that every child receives equipment that is functional, respected, and something they can take pride in.

Beyond equipment, Gear to Grant strengthens communities by connecting donors, families, and local organizations around a shared goal of expanding opportunity. By turning unused gear into real access, we are working to close the gap in youth sports and ensure that every child has the chance to step onto the field, build confidence, and be part of something bigger than themselves.

We’re giving unused gear new life and children opportunities.
