Our Mission
Gear to Grant addresses economic inequality and access barriers that prevent many young people from participating in sports and extracurricular activities. Rising costs for equipment, travel, and participation fees disproportionately impact low-income and rural families, limiting opportunities for youth to build confidence, community, and lifelong skills. By repurposing high-quality donated sports equipment and converting it into funding for microgrants, Gear to Grant works to reduce financial barriers and create more equitable access to youth sports.
Our work also promotes dignity-centered resource redistribution by ensuring that donated gear is cleaned, repaired, and thoughtfully distributed so recipients receive equipment that is functional and respected. Beyond providing material support, the project strengthens community connections by bringing together donors, families, and local organizations around a shared commitment to expanding opportunity. Ultimately, Gear to Grant aims to address structural inequities in youth sports participation while empowering young people to feel included, supported, and able to pursue their interests regardless of financial circumstances.
We’re giving unused gear new life and children opportunities.
